May 21, 2026, 6-8PM ET, Zoom: Traumatic Narcissism Theory and Practice: Understanding the Traumatizing Narcissist and Healing Narcissistic Abuse.
DETAILS TO BE ANNOUNCED
This presentation will outline the principles of traumatic narcissism theory (TNT) and demonstrate how the theory is used in the treatment of victims of subjugation trauma. The program will highlight the value of
1) learning about the psychology and behavior of the individual described as the traumatizing narcissist (TN);
2) recognizing his specific traumatizing impact on those he draws into his relational system of subjugation; and
3) making use of trauma-informed psychotherapeutic practices in the service of healing and recovery for his victims.
TNT helps victims of subjugation trauma and their therapists understand, through psychoeducation, the coercive controlling strategies of the TN, and how these behaviors induce dissociation and chronic self-negation, or self-alienation. Clinical case vignettes will demonstrate the means by which victims are helped to recognize and release themselves from the self-negation and psychological bondage that is the legacy of the TN’s abuse.
